CRT 15th Anniversary Events

2019 is a big year for FCRT, as we celebrate the 15th year on the Trail!

We have a wide variety of events set for the year, join us for one or more!

Next up:  April 26—Arbor Day Celebration

On Friday, April 26 Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett encourages residents to celebrate the community's outdoor engagement efforts at the annual Arbor Day Ceremony. This year's event celebrates the city's 29 years as a partner of Tree City USA as well as the 15th year anniversary of the Clinton River Trail.

The scenic Clinton River Trail, spanning 16 miles through the five communities of Rochester, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Pontiac and Sylvan Lake in Oakland County, has been a successful partnership and recreational opportunity for all of these communities.

Thanks to the collaboration among cities, the trail provides users a consistent look throughout with informational kiosk, tables, signage and pavement markings. The American Public Works Association (APWA) – Michigan Chapter recognized this work with the prestigious Project of the Year Award in 2017.

The city will plant a tree along the trail near the Livernois Rd intersection. The ceremonial tree planting will be at 4:00 p.m. hosted by the City of Rochester Hills, an Arbor Day Foundation - Tree City USA Community. Mayor Barnett will offer remarks and pass along the shovel to representatives from the Friends of The Clinton River Trail to help plant the tree. Free tree seedlings will be given to attendees at the event.

May 4: Cruisin' For the Trails.

Enjoy a bike ride on the Clinton River Trail. Special beer SAG stop at Duffy's Pub in Auburn Hills and a end of ride beer at Rochester Mills Beer Co in downtown Rochester. We will have a charity raffle at the end of the ride for a chance to win cool stuff and the proceeds benefits the Friends of the Clinton River Trail.  Tickets - $30 (price includes ticketing fees) / $35 day of event ticket sales (cash only please).

More info and registration links are available here.

ALSO on May 4: Spring Migration Hike

Saturday, May 4 — 8:30am-11:30am

1115 Avon Road, Rochester, Michigan

May marks the return of many migrating birds to Michigan. Wood warblers begin to appear as the trees leaf. This is the best of the year to see these brightly colored small songsters. Over the next few weeks, Michigan’s fields, forests and wetlands come alive as the dawn chorus announces that birds have returned to their breeding grounds. Plan to hike on the Clinton River Trail celebrating its 15th anniversary to see some of the birds along the trail. The trail parallels the path of the River and both agencies educate the importance of the River and its recreation benefits to the region. Meet at the Clinton River Watershed Parking Lot located on 1115 Avon Road.  http://www.crwc.org/
